The UK producer and percussionist Castro is back to Enchufada after his first track on the Upper Cuts free download series. Following on the success of the hybrid zouk bass anthem that was Toot Toot, this young artist on the rise teamed up with likeminded Global Club Music explorers Branko and Poté at the RBMA Studios in London to create a 2-track follow-up EP for Lisbon’s most tropical label.
‘Bipolar’ is the name of the producer’s new release, which allows us to dive deeper into Castro’s unique musical universe. Easily shifting gears between genres and tempos – which he firmly imprints with his highly percussive, festive and tropical approach – this young producer on the rise now gifts us with two vibrant tracks where he simultaneously explores and subverts genres like UK Funky or Zouk Bass.
Ragged Bulls presents us with an explosive peak-time club track fit for global-minded dancefloors, where its syncopated drums and looping horn melodies instantly transport listeners to a Carnival mindset, while on Twitch (feat. Branko & Poté) the tropical trio bring the BPM down to zouk speed to create a heavily percussive and hypnotic number that’s sure to delight fans of the slower side of the Global Club Music scene.
With so many convincing musical arguments from this Cardiff-based artist, don’t be surprised if you see and hear a lot more from Castro on future Enchufada releases.
